Banat
The dance of Banat is present in two of its variants. One is that from the mountains which throughout its lively rhythms and turmoil created by the continuous turns of the girls under the arms of the boys, throughout the vigour of the man movements shows the vivid temperament of the inhabitants from the mountain area.
The other variant of the dance of Banat belongs to the plain area, characterized by a larger display in space with slowlier movements is the so called "Sorocul" one of the most pretentious Romanian popular dances from the execution point of view. The movements of this dance are very complicated and its most important elements are combined in many different ways.
Oaş
The natural conditions of the Oas, especially the Northern part of the county is surrounded by mountains and it is somehow isolated from the historical past, allowed the preservation of an archaic folklore which shows the tough nature of the people here. The dance of this part of the country has all its characteristic notes: rhythmic hops, the severe costumes of the dancers, half-sung shouts turns in couples, taps on the arms.
Bihor
The folklore zone of the Bihor is characterized by unity of the dance style. The hopped steps, the stirrups and the taps on the boots are the most important elements of choreography and all this is done with no other movement or with short lateral movements but very dynamic and very rhythmic. The weigh balance from one feet to another and the movements "heel-sole" or "heel-toes" are very easily made in a nearly imperceptible way.
Moldova
The movements of the dances of Moldavia show a lot of elegance and vivacity, joy and optimism. They show the nature and the disposition of the people there. In the North part of Moldavia, the dances are always accompanied by a light swaying of the body made in the rhythm of the steps and this creates a particular charm. The movements are not very ample. They are characterized by short hops on the floor in offbeat and also small hops with taps on the stirrups.
Someş
This part of the country is characterized by several types of dances very well created from the artistic point of view. They are wide and complex: there are elements of great virtuosity and elegance especially in the "man" dances. The movements are very varied and rhythmic because of the taps on the arms and on the boots and the hoped steps, walk or stirrup steps.
Oltenia
The dance of Oltenia, from the Danube plain is very spectacular. Alert rhythms, quick movements, syncopated steps and shouts "on order". The permanent vibrations in unison of the whole group create a dynamic and vigorous show.
Căluş
"Căluşul" represents a custom of a huge complexity from the functional point of view as well as from that of the languages used out of which the dance is the most important. We meet here two categories of movements: dance figures and movements of "rest" or walks and the dancers dance a hand on a walking stick. They generally dance in a circle but the dancers don't take one the other's hand they are coordinated by a commander.
Orchestra Ansamblului Folcloric "Lugojana"
A band that sustains the musical part of the choreographic folk show contains: violin, clarinet, "taragot", panpipes, and acordeon, double bass that give colour to the folk Romanian music. The repertory of our band contains dances and old songs that come out of ancient times, with nice tunes, varied rhythms but also very attractive contemporary creations.
